BOOZEFIGHTERS

GO TO CITY HALL

May 10, 2005 twenty six bikers roll up in front of the Fort Worth City Hall building and park.  Then dismounted and in double file marched into the building and up a stairs.  One guy that was coming down stopped, took one startled look at us, then turned and ran back up the stairs.

We weren’t there to cause a riot or anything.  We were invited by Mayor Mike Moncrief to attend a city council meeting.

During that meeting we were asked to come forward and receive a plaque commemorating us for our effort in promoting “MOTORCYCLE SAFETY”.

Gene Long addressed the Mayor and city counsel, thanking them for the proclamation.  And he thanked the city for designating 39 blocks for us to cordon off as a staging area for this year’s 20th annual BIG TEXAS TOY RUN.  There were several complementary comments from the Mayor and other council members showing their appreciation for the good work the Boozefighters does to help the MHMR kids have a good Christmas, and the funding that assist them all year long.

At one point the Mayor asked where we found space to park all of our IRON STEADS.  Gene said in front just south of the entrance.  Then JQ added, “in a no parking zone!”  That rocked the house with laughter from all the council and the gallery.

And would you believe…as we orderly filed out we got a great applause?  I think we made a positive impression on the CITY FATHERS.
