"The following article was printed in the February 2005 issue of Thunder Press" In Memoriam Les Haserot: the oldest Boozefighter November 12, 1917—December 30, 2004
Les Haserot, the oldest member of the legendary Boozefighters Motorcycle Club, will be remembered, along with the rest of “The Original Wild Ones,” as a true pioneer. He was integral to the founding of the lifestyle that we all enjoy today.
Les was a pure and genuine biker. His life defined that term. He and his motorcycles shared a common soul. He was a member of the famous Victor McLaglen Motor Corps and was an accomplished trick rider before most of us could ride our Schwinns without training wheels. But Les is probably best known for his solo trips into Baja California in the days before there were such conveniences as gas stations and paved roads. Les made the thousand mile odyssey twenty times prior to 1954 on his ’37 Harley, earning himself the title of “Baja King.” In the March 2004 issue of Thunder Press, writer Panhead Jimmy paid a great tribute to Les with his article, “A Real Wild One.” Les Haserot has left an incredible legacy. The club that he helped to build into a thriving brotherhood still lives because of the spirit and the true biker’s heart that Les possessed. “Boozefighters up!” brother Les! Bill Hayes
