MEETING

10-20-07

Seems we say this every year but it’s definitely appropriate to say it again…THIS WAS THE BIGGEST AND BEST EVER! And all things considered I suppose it would be fitting to call this an “INTERNATIONAL MEETING.” In addition to folks from all over the USA we had a chapter from France, a BTG group from England, Supporters from Italy, and a chapter from Canada. A member from there won the trophy for “LONGEST RIDER” having ridden over 2,200 + miles to get to the convention.

Some of the members from France came to California about 10 days early and toured up and down the West Coast with various BF chapter members. They say they really had a BLAST! Others such as Kevin & family came from England

a couple of days early and got to tour sights such as the “Old Cowtown Stockyard district.” And they got to try out a plate full of Texas special delicacies known as “CALF FRIES.” Afterwards JQ explained the difference between a steer and a bull (that was a mean trick – but hay they liked it at the time).

During the start of the Nat’l Meeting Saturday morning Lin Sladden (Kevin’s wife) presented to JQ and the Board of Directors a WWII American flag. (READ THE STORY)

It was explained that at the end of the war the American commander of the air base in England presented their battle flag to a Royal Air Force officer (as they shut down and flew out), in which happen to be Lin’s Dad. It got passed down to her brother Steve, and upon his recent death the flag was given to Lin. She saw fit to bring it back to the USA and present it to the Boozefighters in appreciation for our “ORIGINALS” aid in helping win WWII. We spread out that big long old 48 star flag and the whole house stood and pledged allegiance to it. Needless to say…due to the sentiment of that flag’s importance…there were a few emotional quivering voices and some wet eyes exhibited during that pledge. Thanks Lin…I think that Old Glory just might become an annual part of our traditional pledge (forever).

As you can see by the cover story picture ‘BUCK’ and his group won the trophy for most members traveling. There were numerous other trophies presented, patches awarded, and acknowledgements for successful accomplishments.

and ‘Honda Bob’ was recognized as our special “SENIOR MEMBER.” JQ ‘History’ & ‘Dancer’ were presented their retirement patches and some special appreciation words.

'Dancer' & 'JQ' get to be RETARTED...I mean "RETIRED."

Rather than try to recap the whole weekend’s activity I think I’ll shut down the blab and let the pictures do the talk’n. For sure we all had a great time and look forward to the next “INTERNATIONAL MEETING!”
