BARRY ALAN `DOC’ DYER

12 – 18 – 1951

TO

1 – 5 – 2007

One of the hardiest jobs is telling of the passing of a friend and a brother. I didn’t have the opportunity to get to know `DOC’ as well as I should in order to speak for him. Doc was the Secretary of our Granbury CH 39 and I only got to meet him on occasions when our various chapters got together for parties, rides or the National meeting. But I do recall that of the large crowds of members Doc stood out as a beaming light. He was always laughing and having fun.

At 10 AM January 9, 2007 in the over-flow crowd of the First Baptist Church, Lipan, Texas David White officiated the funeral. Not as a stuffy preacher but as a close personal friend. David told that Doc was a big influence on his life.

David told that one time he was a bit down in the dumps with all his obligations as a pastor and confided to Doc that he wished he could live life in as care free way as he did. That he uses to be that way while growing up. Doc asked where that was? David told him about the little West Texas town and how he missed many friends and families there.

Doc said…get your motorcycle out and we’re going there right now. “But I’ve got too many other things to do,” David replied. Not until you get your life back, Doc insisted. Without that you’re not going to be worth a damn at anything. They made the trip, laughed a lot, and David got a new lease on life. He said it taught him to be a more down to earth minister for God, rather than a stuffy preacher.

Big John Rogers spoke from the heart about how much he had learned to appreciate Doc. He told about a group motorcycle trip to Colorado last September. Doc joined that venture and recorded notes of each event to and from. Big John said…”That guy cracked us up on the whole trip. Every time we stopped or did something Doc wrote it down in a comical way and he kept us laughing all the time. We are really going to miss him but will always remember his contribution to the club and our lives in general. He taught us how to have more fun than ever.”

His lovely wife Rhonda, sons Randy, John, Moses and Barry, survives doc. Sister Linda, brother-in-law John, nephew Johnny, and three granddaughters. And of course numerous Boozefighters M.C. brothers & sisters.

Thank you `DOC’. By your shinning example you have taught us all how to live life to a fuller extent. We have all learned from you the importance of living it with the importance of “FUN!”
