CHAPTER CHALLENGE

Recently `HORSE’ and some others came up with an idea and formed a plan to help bring the various BFMC Texas Chapters together more frequently in a FUN SETTING. A couple of times a month there will be some kind of ride, party, event, or a combination ear marked as a “CHAPTER CHALLENGE.” The chapter with the highest per-cent of their membership attending will win a big trophy. They get to keep it until they are beat out in a future challenge, and then the trophy is passed on to the new winner.

March 5, 2005 (Saturday) chapter 39 put on the challenge by sponsoring a camp out at DOCK’S place out in the country near Tolar, TX (pop 508). They BBQ’ed about 140 pounds of ribs, smoked jalapeño sausage, a tub of beans, salads, etc, etc. And they had a cattle troft full of ice cold beer, sodas, and bottled water.

Another highlight of the day was the “PROSPECT DRAG.” Prospects had to lie belly down and hold on for dear life to a scoop (grain shovel) that was tethered to the back bumper of a 4 – wheel drive pick up truck. The truck slowly drug them into a ditch full of mud – then hauled ass! They all did real good but sure ate a lot of mud in the process.

Around 4 PM a great little band cranked up with some good R & B music. During band break `HORSE’ got up and presented the trophy to the winners. Naturally since it was in Ch 39’s pasture they had the best turn out and claimed the honors. But that was rather fitting anyway since they were also celebrating their second year as a chapter.

Job well done you guys, and thanks for having us.
