IRISH ED MAHAN HAS BEEN OUR NATIONAL CHAPLAIN SINCE 1999. HE'S BEEN HITCH'N AND PLANT'N FOR OUR CLUB EVERY SINCE. HE'S OUR BIKER BROTHER AND DON'T CONDEMN ANYONE FOR THEIR WILD HAIR'D WAYS. BUT HE DOES HAVE A LOT OF GOOD PEARLS OF SPIRITUAL WISDOM TO SHARE FOR OUR CONSIDERATION. WE HAVE ASKED HIM TO LAY A FEW OF THEM ON US EACH MONTH IN THE "CHAPLAIN'S CORNER." PLEASE GIVE IT A READ AND SOME THOUGHT. |

November 2006 A wise man once told me to keep the cookies on the bottom shelf where the kids could reach them. He was telling me to keep the mystery of the Gospel simple and to use Jesus’ model applying God’s Word to everyday life. In our book, “The Original Wild Ones” there is a lady named “Pawn Shop Julie” recognized as the first person that I baptized after becoming the Boozefighter Chaplain. That was six years ago last June. Julie continues to serve Jesus and often assists me in ministry to the “least expected”. Two Sundays ago, we had the pleasure of baptizing Julie’s nineteen-year old son Jeremy while he was home on leave from the Army. In keeping with the “bottom shelf” advice, I share a message that I received from the Lord and forwarded to Julie several years ago. This message continues to be very meaningful to her. I hope that it may provide “bottom shelf” guidance to some of God’s kids who need a cookie at this time in life. Pawn Shop Message “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver and gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish our effect.” I Peter 1: 18-19 (NIV) Sister Julie, I was praying for you and the Lord gave me a pawn shop message for you. I am writing as it develops. People bring valuables to you. They give up possession to you. They have a limited time to redeem (pay out and pick up) their possessions. If they can't do this, they can give their ticket to someone else who is able to redeem (pickup and payout) their possessions before they are irretrievably lost. Your heavenly father created you, and owns you as his own child. Through time and sin you pawned your soul and gave possession to another. You were spiritually bankrupt, the pawn time was running. Your soul was almost irretrievably lost. On several occasions, you came close to death even while your soul was in possession of another. But, when the clock was ticking to a close you realized there was a Redeemer (one who paid off & picks up). Having nothing to pay you heard of one who has already paid. You gave your ticket to him and he took possession of your soul and life. Julie the payout was free to you but not cheap. Your pawn price was the blood and death of Jesus. Now you are not your own, but bought with a price. Always know you are of great worth to God. Walk each day knowing that you have been bought out of your old life. As God's own child, you have been given power over sin and your old school ways. Don't go back, but go forward in the new forgiven life He has given to you. Live Free, I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (NIV) I welcome your response. Contact me at # 817-295-1696 or Bikechaplain@hotmail.com
