IRISH ED MAHAN HAS BEEN OUR NATIONAL CHAPLAIN SINCE 1999.  HE'S BEEN HITCH'N AND PLANT'N FOR OUR CLUB EVERY SINCE.  HE'S OUR BIKER BROTHER AND DON'T CONDEMN ANYONE FOR THEIR WILD HAIR'D WAYS.  BUT HE DOES HAVE A LOT OF GOOD PEARLS OF SPIRITUAL WISDOM TO SHARE FOR OUR CONSIDERATION.  WE HAVE ASKED HIM TO LAY A FEW OF THEM ON US EACH MONTH IN THE "CHAPLAIN'S CORNER." PLEASE GIVE IT A READ AND SOME THOUGHT.

DESIRES OF THE HEART

4 Delight yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Psalms 37:4 (NKJV)

This promise is often misused by crooked preachers to swindle money using God’s name and their address. I think there is a special reward awaiting those greedy wolves who pretend to be shepherds. This promise says nothing about bigger homes, more expensive cars or any other material thing. This promise assures us that to the degree that our desires align with Gods’ will and work on earth we will see those desires realized.

When I became Chaplain of Chapter 69 in 1998, then National Chaplain January 1, 2000, to my knowledge there was no other Boozefighter Chaplain. About three years ago I heard Billy Graham say that if he could live his ministry over again he would change only one thing. He would stop touring and mentor twelve men by pouring everything he knows about evangelism into them. He felt much more could be accomplished for the future Kingdom of God in this way. About the same time, God put a new desire into my heart. I desired that the Lord set a Boozefighter Chaplain in or close to every BFMC chapter in the nation. Wizard in Ohio was the first answer and now serves as the BFMC Midwest Chaplain. About one year ago, “Deacon” began as Texas Chapter 2 Chaplain. We gave our blessings to “Crazy Carl”, Chapter 43 Missouri at Spring National 06. Two other brothers, one from California and the other from New York expressed a calling to Boozefighter ministry at Spring National. Within the past week, I have heard from “Wizard” from California and “Digger” from Arizona saying that they are already serving as their Chapter Chaplain. God is doing this work. I have little to do with it. It is simply a desire of my heart which agrees with God’s will. Therefore, He is granting the desire. This ministry will go on long after my curtain is drawn.

I invited Jack Rhonemus, “Wizard”, our Midwest Chaplain, and BFer for more than ten years, to share the “Corner” this month. I can’t express how proud I am of this Brother and the work that God has done with and through him.

  Hello Brothers and Sisters,

We are glad you made the choice to click on the Chaplains Corner. Welcome and we hope and pray everything is going well with each one of you.

I mentioned you made a choice. I would imagine that quite a few of you old timers, meaning those who where in this club prior to October 2000 would remember me prior to that date. In October 2000 at the National in Ft. Worth, in the motel bar with Irish Ed I made a choice. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I decided to give my heart to Him. The bible, (which is Gods Word) says if you give your heart to Him, He will give you a new one. And He has. Philippians 1: 6 “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”. That tells me that He made a choice to work on anyone who will receive Him, until we die, or He comes back to earth. Everyday I make the choice to either give my life to Him or not.

On May 20th 2006, I had the privilege of doing the blessing of the bikes at Chapter 31’s 18th Annual Update Party & Poker Run. It was truly a blessing for me to see people make a choice in the bar and set down there drinks to go outside to hear a little of Gods Word and get their bikes blessed. Life is full of choices, and every choice has a consequence. God loves us so much that He gave us that freedom of choice. We can choose Him or refuse Him. If you refuse Him, He will respect that choice, just as I do. We would never try to force anything on anybody, but we are always here for your questions.

We are here to be your servants. The Book of Revelation 3: 20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me”. Irish Ed took me to the door but I had to choose to open it. When I opened the door, He came in. (The door being my heart)

There are a lot of thing I did before that don’t interest me anymore but I still love to ride and I still love the brotherhood. Riding has taken on a whole new outlook because I now know that I’m riding through God’s great creation. I love sharing the Gospel and I love watching God at work.

On Sunday mornings, I and a brother of mine from church go to the local jail. We give out bibles, Sunday school lessons, stamped envelopes and writing paper. We share the gospel and give an ear to the men there. I have seen a few choices made there as well. We are there to serve God. To take His Word to those who might not have ever heard it. We don’t have to go there. It’s a choice we made.

We pray all your choices will be good ones.

Have a fun and safe sum
